ADOPTED DOGS 2021

"Drucilla" originally came to DunRoamin' on September 2, 2020 through the NB SPCA.  She was born about August 20, 2015 and is a Retriever mix.  She had chronic ear infections in both ears and dermatitis on all feet upon her arrival, both of which were treated with medications.

Drucilla is a beautiful little girl.  She likes everyone she has met, enjoys walks and loves Beggin' Strips (they're her very favourite).   She is quiet and attentive and just seems to want to be around people.  She will happily lay at your feet while you work, make phone calls, or just be there to keep you company - it's her favourite place to be.  She is not extremely energetic, but certainly does enjoy her walks!  She is happy to please her human servants, and she gets along well with other larger-breed dogs.

Drucilla was adopted in September 2020 where she lived happily with several cats and one other large-breed dog.  Unfortunately, she has decided she likes to chase cats, so she is not able to continue to live in the home.  She will be happy in a home with no small animals and she loves the two teenagers with whom she has lived over the past year.  She hopes for a new home soon.

On the evening of October 20, 2021, Drucilla met a young couple who immediately fell in love with her, and she fell in love with them.  Love at first sight works very often, and all three are more than happy to give it a try!  Her new family consists of two adults with no other pets, so she will get their full attention - which she says she will love!  Congratulations on your new home, Drucilla!  And thanks to Mandy for making it happen!

"Wahlberg" came to DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue on October 5, 2020 after his owner had passed away and he was no longer able to be cared for.  He is a bright, handsome, sweet, senior black Labrador. The transition to a foster home was definitely a big change for this 14-year-old boy, but his happy demeanor helped him settle in no time.

Wahlberg gets along great with other dogs but sometimes trips over smaller animals when he is excited and doesn't notice them.  He is very respectful of cats, especially if he thinks they might deliver a swat!  Wahlberg is definitely a people dog, preferring the company of humans over anything else.  His hiking days are behind him, but he is always up for a short walk, a cuddle on the couch or to lend a supportive ear.

Wahlberg was on medication for arthritis but he gets around fine.  He would do best in a home with older children.  He is kennel trained but does well loose in the house for short periods of time.  He is an amazing boy who would be a great addition to a loving home.

On March 17, 2021, Wahlberg got his St Patrick's Day present in the form of a new family when he was adopted by a very nice couple from Perth-Andover.  Congratulations, Wahlberg!  Don't forget to write!  We will all miss you, especially your foster parents!  We all look forward to photos of you in your new kingdom!

"Nila" came to DunRoamin' on December 5, 2020 from the Tobique area where she had given birth to nine puppies that were unwanted.  She and her puppies were taken in, but were unable to be cared for there, so she and five of her puppies came to us. Nila was born about January 5, 2019, so was only about two years old and had had puppies before, also.

Nila is a beautiful little girl.  She likes other dogs, cats, people and does not have anything but love from her nose all the way down to her tail!  She is very grateful for the love and care she received so that she might go on to have a normal, loving, caring life with her new family.

Congratulations, Nila.  Be a good girl and have lots of fun with your new family who has adopted two DunRoamin' kittens already!  You will make a wonderful family!  Send lots of photos!!

"Ariel" came to DunRoamin' from the NBSPCA on September 26, 2019.  She is a terrier who was very shy and scared upon her arrival - but who wouldn't be?  She weighed about six pounds and had mild tartar on her teeth.  She was dirty and matted - both of which were quickly rectified for her comfort.  She also had dirty ears which were also cleaned.  She was born about September 18, 2017.

Ariel is a dog we would consider to be semi-feral.  She has not acclimated to life with humans as well as the other puppy mill dogs, and is fearful of most humans.  She will need a very patient and quiet home that is willing to gain her trust and understand that she may never act like a typical domesticated pet.  She also has a heart murmur that will need to be monitored closely by her future vet.

Ariel will resort to biting if she feels threatened by people reaching towards her unexpectedly, like to attach a leash to her collar.  This is why we are requiring that any potential adoptive home has a fenced yard so she can go in and out without the stress of having the leash put on and off multiple times a day.

She has come leaps and bounds in terms of what she will tolerate and her trust level with humans, but she will certainly be a commitment to anyone interested in adopting her.  Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of positive points in her description, but we strive to provide a clear picture early on of the care our dogs will need to those who express interest.

On December 3, 2020, Ariel received a new caregiver when she was fostered by an individual very familiar with dogs and their unique ways.  Ariel is living with several other dogs, many of whom were very timid/scared when they first arrived, but are now doing SO much better, thanks to the care they receive and the canine friends who show them that they are safe, loved and cared for.

On January 30, 2021, Ariel was officially adopted by her foster family and she will live there happily ever after.  We're sure she will continue to learn trust and enjoy the closeness of her canine pack that has accepted her so readily.  Congratulations, Ariel!

"Nora" came to DunRoamin' on December 5, 2020 from the Tobique area where she had been born about November 27, 2020.  She had been surrendered to a shelter, but they had no place for her, so she, her mom and four siblings became wards of DunRoamin'.

Nora was healthy and was soon old enough to be weaned from her mom.  She is a sweet little girl who looked forward to a very nice life and a family to share it with.  She will be spayed and fully vaccinated, then will be ready for a home!

On January 22, 2021, Nora was adopted to a pet-loving family in Greenfield where she joins other canine and feline friends.  Congratulations, Nora - we can't wait to see you as you grow up!
